Ready for the upturn? Shake off survivor mentality with Power Gems
Post-recession, Power Gems has emerged stronger than many of our more risk-adverse competitors. Owners, Phil and Patrick, saw out their first recession more than 20 years ago, and have lived through the many downturns in between.
Here’s how they approach business today:
- Sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind. Phil keeps coming up with new ideas, some apparently crazy – such as redesigning the Xenon ballast range or offering high-speed shooting at 24kW. Power Gems receives encouragement from each and every sale, and the value of your feedback can’t be underestimated.
- When times are tough, it’s important to keep going out. It’s the only way we can be confident that we have the right product. During February, Patrick and Phil met many Power Gems users in American and Canada. While in January, we once again attended William F White’s Big Freeze in Toronto and the BSC Expo at Battersea, London.
- Always be alive to opportunity. While others hunkered down to survive the recession, Power Gems opened a new facility in Atlanta and forged new partnerships to expand the after-sales support available in the States. As well as America, we expanded in Europe, including the appointment of Italy’s ONVIDEO to our network of Power Gems dealers. Meanwhile, our range of high speed ballasts continues to generate interest in new markets, including entertainment lighting, theatre fixtures and solar simulation.
Rather than be scared of another recession, Phil and Patrick are confident of the growth opportunities in the coming year. We end the first quarter of 2016 on a positive note, and it’s fair to say it’s been a good one for Power Gems. We hope you share our confidence.
