Power Gems opens in Atlanta – expansion in North America
Power Gems has opened its second American office in Atlanta, headed by Vice President US Sales, Dan Basso. On Friday 6 February we let Georgia know we were open for business with a lively open house at our new premises in College Park.
Power Gems owners and Directors, Phil Ellams and Patrick McGuane flew in from the UK, to join Dan and Chip Harley, our man in Los Angeles, for the opening.
Phil said: “In recent years we have witnessed continual growth in Atlanta film and TV production, and now is the perfect time to establish a presence in the region to locally support the users of our product.”
Also celebrating the opening of the Atlanta facility were Rat Pac Dimmers and Sourcemaker, two leading suppliers to the film, broadcast and live event industry, companies that share our building.
The open house was well attended, especially for a Friday afternoon, and we were delighted to welcome so many of our industry colleagues and business partners. In the corners where the equipment was set up there was much chat about the latest in high speed ballasts, dimmer technology and lighting balloons. Assuming guests could drag themselves away from the delicious pulled pork and ‘cowboys beans’ – the mouthwatering bbq sauce smell filling the room – from the buffet arranged by our partners at Rat Pac.
Power Gems, with corporate headquarters in the UK, has enjoyed steady growth in both domestic and global sales, supplying product for a wide range of applications. For over 20 years the small-but-flexible California-based sales office has been one of the main providers of location lighting to Hollywood. Now with Georgia’s film industry booming we look forward to working closely with the industry in that area too.
