Ballasts for 1,000Hz high speed in demand with rental companies
Power Gems grabbed the opportunity to call on a number of film equipment companies on the West Coast of America, to showcase the refreshed and redesigned range.
Phil and Patrick took along pre-production models of the latest edition, the 18kW with 1,000Hz, to demonstrate its ability to autoscan for high speed shooting. The recently launched ballast got an enthusiastic response, for the high speed function but also the compatibility of Power Gems ballasts with the connectors of most manufacturers including ARRI.
After running the 18kW with their Alpha 18K lighting fixture range, K5600 Lighting decided to add the Power Gems ballast to the inventory of equipment available to rent from their outlets in the US and France.
Autoscan on a 24kW ballast?
This time last year, Power Gems were in Miami, where Filmtrade were equally enthusiastic about the high speed 
feature. So, that’s a ringing endorsement from the East and West Coast of the States and good signs that our range of affordable high speed ballasts will prove popular with rental companies and studios around the world.
As announced in September, the full range of Power Gems ballasts up to 18kW now carry the 1,000Hz high speed feature. EB1812P 300/1000Hz are available now from stock
Power Gems ballasts are compatible with the majority of lighting fixtures on the market. The entire range of high speed ballasts can be fully integrated, with modular design for ease of maintenance.
