Power Gems has developed a ballast for 1000Hz high speed at 18kW. Optimised for high-speed shooting, the latest addition to the Power Gems range provides an unprecedented ability to shoot flicker-free under optimised lighting conditions.
Rock-solid daylight for all frame rates
Power Gems with technology partner, Osram, has designed a ballast to meet the greatest challenges of feature film shoots and all the demands of slow-motion commercials work. AutoScan technology will automatically analyse the lamp characteristics and select the optimal lamp frequency giving the most stable light. This is a real time-saving feature and removes the need for training to set up a 1000Hz fixture – push the button and everything is done for you.

“We introduced AutoScan into our Ultra-High Frequency entertainment market ballasts more than a decade ago. But back then it was a hidden feature, quietly working away in the background. As soon as 1000Hz operation came to the location HMI market we responded immediately – by dusting down the AutoScan software and attaching it to a big fat button on the front of the product. It’s hugely popular and has proven to be a trendsetting feature for electronic ballasts.”
