Proud parents start a new family

They grow up so fast, it brings a tear to the eye. For three years, Phil has been busy overseeing the start of a young family of LED products: GEMtile, aged three; PWM40, two; and the newest, GEM6 (two months).

You can imagine how proud he is to see his little one, the GEM6, scale new heights. The GEM6 controller, with six controllable channels and an input range of 12V to 24V, offers a wide range of ways to control LED ribbons and other LED-based fixtures.

September 2023 marked new beginnings when the first batch of GEM6 rolled off the assembly line and was immediately rented out by Sunbelt Rentals for filming a major blockbuster.

Meanwhile, in November 2022, the world’s first 40-channel LED controller for use at high power (3kW) was shipped straight to Sky Studios Elstree for NBC Universal.

And, in November 2020, we serviced a Sky drama being shot in the UK with an extremely lightweight LED tile. The GEMtile is a broadcast-quality replacement for standard commercial 600mm/2ft fluorescent in action, which seamlessly fits into existing suspended ceilings.

All three members of the LED family have gone from birth to being out on location for filming for major film studios, Amazon and Netflix streaming services, more quickly than a baby giraffe can learn to walk.

Did you know? A giraffe calf can run at full speed, as fast as the adults, within 10 hours of birth. Almost as impressive as our range of high-speed HMI ballasts with 1,000Hz Autoscan as standard.

Giraffes have distinctive characteristics, just like our LED range which all sport the same screen and membrane keys so they’re easy to spot in the wild.

As you’ll see from this photo, the key panel display is the obvious thing you notice. User control is achieved through 4 large membrane keys for maximum resilience in demanding conditions. And less visible, each product benefits from a USB port for seamless software updates.

We like the idea of a large family; at least one new addition is expected in 2024. Phil has hinted about giving you a cheaper way of lighting for blue or green screens.
