New LED range
Europe’s premier show for film and TV production equipment and technology is our first in-person event in the UK since 2020. LEDs were the hot topic at BSC Expo two years ago, when we debuted the Power Gems line of LED constant current supply modules ranging from 600W to 1,800W.
At reasonable prices
We’ve since been asked to custom design products for the LED control market, for OEM manufacturers and a major film studio complex due to open in 2022, for live broadcast and studio productions. Knowing there’s a market for LED power supplies, controllers, displays, drivers and more, Phil Ellams, co-owner and head of product design, is busy designing and adapting these products for the market; it has to be at a reasonable price. Watch this space for new product launches.
Crystal Locking and Autoscan
Meanwhile, we regularly get orders for the bestselling EB1812P (6kW–18kW) and EB960P (9kW, 6kW, 4kW, 2.5kW) with questions about whether they are suitable for filming at 1,000Hz high speed. The short answer is yes, and the long answer is Patrick McGuane will be on hand to demonstrate the Autoscan and Crystal Locking pre-set functionality.
Power Gems has modified the 1,000Hz operation so that when the Crystal Locking mode is selected, the ballast switches in the first instance to an accurate 1,000.0Hz. As a result, this frequency is crystal locked with accuracy better than 50ppm.
You could scan the range 750Hz to 1250Hz using the Autoscan system to choose a different operating frequency if the particular lamp being used is not stable at 1,000Hz frequency.
For convenience, every HMI ballast comes packed full of features such as Autoscan, DMX remote control and built-in compensation of lamp cable volt drop.
