Power Gems EB1812P 18K is back in stock
A good HMI ballast can be hard to find. You’re looking for reliability, affordability, versatility and charming good looks. Well, you’re in luck because the best-selling EB1812P 18K is back in stock.
In June, we joked about how this trusty 18K ballast keeps popping up all over the world. During July and August, there were still plenty of EB1812P ballasts available as we held stock in the Santa Clarita facility in LA.
Meanwhile, over in the UK, we were dealing with the shutdown of our factory in Manchester in March and had to wait a few months for permission to resume production.
Finally, in July our assemblers started back in Manchester, UK, which is where all our ballasts are made by hand and tested by engineers before being shipped worldwide.
For a week or two, we simply weren’t able to replenish stock as fast as we would want to, but this has changed as we’ve ramped up production by 10%. You may not have noticed the effect, but we like to be as transparent as possible.

And to think, it’s been almost six years since we first released the EB1812P. In October 2016, we started production on what’s become our most popular ballast. Those were the days my friend, when our team (as shown) stayed four-ballast-lengths apart through necessity rather than COVID.
The EB1812P can operate any lamp from 6kW through to 18kW. 300Hz and 1000Hz high speed operation comes as standard, and you get autoscan feature for high speed (1000Hz) shooting if needed. Such versatility means it’s ready-made for high speed shooting.
The power circuits have been designed to tolerate huge voltage fluctuations to keep the product running under the harshest of power supply conditions. The EB1812P is considerably lighter and smaller than any unit currently available on the market.
Breakthrough features, all at no extra cost:
- Wide range of output power options
- Slide-in modules for easy maintenance
- Built-in head cable volt drop compensation
- 300Hz & 1000Hz output for high speed filming.
