Max in Manchester for Luminary Lighting learning

This week, Power Gems welcomed Max Smith from Luminary Lighting to our head office in Irlam, Manchester for technical training and a tour of our factory.

Max works as a technician in Luminary Repairs, part of Luminary Lighting, based in south-east London. The company which was founded in 1987 (even older than Power Gems!), started as a simple repair shop for photographic lighting equipment. Over the last 30 years they have adapted and progressed to innovations in the lighting industry. Innovations such as Power Gems ballasts.

This was Max’s first trip to Manchester, and we were pleased to have him with us for three days.

Power Gems always offers a warm welcome to industry colleagues who want to learn more about what we do.

One of the benefits of visiting Power Gems for training is the opportunity to tour the assembly line, to see where and how the ballasts are made, and the attention to detail.

Our approach to training is like ourselves, very straightforward. We have a chat about what you want to achieve, so we can tailor the training and make the best use of your time. There could be a specific project – such as a tricky location shoot – coming up, or you could be looking for a refresher on the workhorses of the industry, our reliable EB1812P18kW/12kW/9kW/6kW and EB125P 1200W high speed ballasts. Beyond the real meat of the course, which gives you an understanding of how to maintain and repair a ballast, there are various tips and tricks to save time and money when using Power Gems power supplies.

Sure you can read all about Power Gems in the datasheets and documentation – but then you’d miss out on getting advice first-hand from the people who design and manufacture them.

Max was particularly impressed with the one-one-training approach. Plus our ability to offer technical and software upgrades, to increase product reliability.

We enjoyed spending time with Max. For a practical course, there’s hardly any paperwork, until the end, when Max was presented with his certificate.
