Power Gems workforce just got bigger

Return is the common theme in the new hires at Power Gems, as we welcome Jackie and Des to Manchester HQ. As announced in July, we were looking for an Electrical & Electronics Assembler/Packing Assistant.

Jackie Aston and Des Ferguson of Power Gems

Our first joiner, Jackie Aston returns to loom work and full-time employment after spending a decade in retail. She has worked on very fine-pitch surface mount assembly in the past and knows about re-working surface mount technology (SMT). Adept with cable harnesses, soldering and small component manual insertion, we’re delighted that Jackie’s bringing her skills back into our ballast assembly production line.

We were actively recruiting, when fate pointed us in the direction of Des Ferguson who comes back to Fairhills Road – he used to work on the same industrial estate as Power Gems. Des is a regular gym-goer and has an interest in crypto-currency. During the interview, he promised to make use of our expensively-built cycle shed which definitely swung it!

One vacancy, resulting in two new hires, is not a bad result as we ramp up production of high speed ballasts and LED power supplies.

We welcome Jackie and Des to team Power Gems.

But hang on, that’s not all. Danny Cairns joined us back in February, but evaded photography…until now.
