Power Gems releases GEN 2 high-speed ballast
Power Gems has launched GEN 2, a high speed ballast designed to operate in high humidity.
The rugged GEN 2 offers proven reliability, safety and stability when operating in extreme environments and has a unique modular design for easy maintenance.
Power Gems will launch the GEN 2 at this year’s Cine Gear ATL Expo, Trilith Studios, Atlanta, 7th-8th October. The company’s 18kW GEN 2 high-speed ballast is part of its range of affordable electronic ballasts.

Power Gems is a design pioneer in introducing reliable high wattage, flicker-free power supplies – all for less cost. The GEN 2 has been tried and tested in demanding conditions – in high humidity, wind and rain – around the globe. The PCB boards are coated with an advanced water and corrosion-resistant fluoropolymer to protect against condensation.
In addition, the GEN 2 is fitted with silicon carbide components, greatly reducing heat build-up within units – less heat generated, offers greater reliability. Temperature-controlled fans ensure proper operation in high ambient temperatures.

The GEN 2 ballast can operate any lamp from 6kW to 18KW, and 1000Hz operation comes as standard.
And that’s not all.
In 2009, Power Gems launched a unique modular design for its range of high-speed ballasts that allows you to pop out the faulty module, with the option to repair it later at your leisure. So, if something happens, it only takes you a couple of minutes to unscrew and change the module.
