Will Power Gems’ new PWM system for LED be right for you?
In September, Power Gems introduced a constant current LED power supply. As you’ll know LEDs can be driven using the PWM system where the output light is effectively chopped.
PWM systems are incredibly compact and lower cost, but as we explained at the time, in Why Power Gems designed a high-power LED power supply, a constant current premium solution has certain advantages.
Keen to give you the option of both systems, we have designed an attractively-priced PWM system which can be used to control the brightness of LEDs in lower power fixtures.
The new family of compact power supplies gives you the choice of using Power Gems for high or lower power fixtures. Each power supply has its own appeal, but all come with reduced dimensions – designed to fit into the smallest space.

Power Gems co-owner and product designer, Phil Ellams, has used his 25 years’ experience of integrated power electronics to solve the design challenge of high speed filming, event, film and TV lighting application. By reducing the PCB space, Phil has created a device much smaller than standard PWM units, and one which doesn’t require peripheral components.
He says: “This is a compact, low-cost solution which completes our LED offering, giving a solution to meet everybody’s needs. But don’t forget the advantages offered by the premium constant current solution.”
