Power Gems expands with new appointment

In May, one of the fastest growing manufacturers of electronic ballasts, Power Gems began the search for an Electronic Assembler/Packing assistant.

The vacancy has resulted in the appointment of Ryan Thomas to help ramp up production of high speed ballasts.

Ryan is based at Power Gems’ corporate headquarters in Manchester, and further strengthens the team of 24 responsible for all stages of ballast production. We’re proud that all Power Gems ballasts are made in the UK and to be able to support local employment.

Ryan Thomas

Twenty-four-year-old Ryan (above) from Atherton, Greater Manchester has a solid technical background with formal engineering qualifications. After studying electrical installation and engineering at Bolton College, Ryan worked as a mechanical engineer manufacturing valves used in the oil and gas industry. A stint as a fitter, assembling and installing bedroom furniture, means he can work in the tightest of spaces – essentials skills for fitting components in the compact design of a high speed electronic ballast.

As Power Gems continues to grow, developing the right team becomes increasingly important, says owner, Phil Ellams:

“When we’re recruiting we look for team players with enthusiasm and a friendly manner – qualities which we value as highly as specific technical skills.

Any gaps in knowledge we can fill with training, but it’s important that new hires can commit to the Power Gems culture.

I’m certain that Ryan fits the bill!”
