Power Gems in London for BSC Expo 2023
Power Gems exhibited at the 2023 expo held in London by the British Society of Cinematographers between 23 and 25 February.
The BSC Expo really is the most prestigious trade show in Europe. Originally the show was focused on the British film and TV community; this has expanded over the years with exhibitors and visitors from all over the world.
On the Friday, visitors started to arrive early and didn’t leave – the venue was close to capacity at 3,000, and once people came in, they wanted to stay all day.
We can only apologise to security for the magnetic pull of the Power Gems booth. The GEMtile, a 600 mm x 600 mm (2ft by 2ft) LED ceiling panel light, and the GEMflo, our popular broadcast-quality LED retrofitting system, are so affordable, people are attracted to them, like moths to a flame.
During the daytime, exhibitors and visitors mingled in booths and aisles. After-show gatherings were held a short walk away, within the redeveloped Battersea Power Station, with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.
On the Saturday, visitors arrived a little later; there may or may not have been something to do with the late night on Friday. It’s pure speculation because Patrick was tucked up in bed by 9 pm, so he couldn’t possibly comment.
