Pushing the boundaries of Power Gems ballasts – with LRX in Canada
What’s the maximum length of head feeder you can attach to a ballast? As a rule of thumb we say 100m/300ft. Our friends, LRX Lighting in Canada have been testing this assertion with 350ft head feeders running up a huge crane, and all that in -20°C/-4°F conditions! Having tried a competitor’s product which failed to perform, they turned to the latest Power Gems 18kW ballast designed for harsh operating conditions. The photo shows the scale of the operation for the filming of an upcoming Hollywood blockbuster – those tiny specks at the top of the crane are in fact 18kW heads! LRX are used to taking on technical challenges, and we were more than happy that they had our backs on this one.
