Pacific Backlot in Vancouver takes delivery of Power Gems
We asked Pacific Backlot to send a few pictures of their shipment of Power Gems because we miss seeing our HMI ballasts out in the real world.
It’s fair to say our EB1812Ps, the workhorse of the industry, arrived in Vancouver at an interesting time.
Canada, like every other country, is trying to find a way to restart the film and television industry safely.
We interrupted Pacific Backlot as they unpacked ballasts, to ask about life under lockdown:
“If there is a silver lining to come out of all of this, for us, it’s been the ability to complete the less pressing matters that at the time didn’t seem necessary, but now after completing, we have realised how important these were and how they have led us to more innovative ideas that help us better serve our customers.
We are looking forward to having the industry start back up and hope the back-to-work protocols are realistic and manageable.
Fortunately, the stages we supply at the Vancouver Film Studios (VFS) are at 100% occupancy for the rest of the year and the foreseeable future, with shows like The Flash Season 7 and Motherland Season 2.
Pacific Backlot has been predominately a supplier of lighting and grip gear to the stages at VFS, but we’re looking forward to taking the next step and to provide our customers with lighting and grip off-the lot.”
The ballasts are all lined up, and we’re sure they won’t be there for long once restrictions are lifted.
The beauty of being able to add the Pacific Backlot logo, is, once rented out, they’ll make their way back home.
We’re not saying customised labelling is a homing device, more a badge of ownership and quality. You may not know when the coronavirus pandemic will be over, but you will know if a ballast belongs to you.
