Sneak preview: Introducing the Rolling Rack Series – 19” rack-mounted Power Gems ballast
The latest Power Gems brings all of your scattered ballasts together in a compact 19” rack-mounted electronic ballast.
The Rolling Rack Series is ideal for use where you need a lot of ballasts in one location; for applications such as live broadcast events including sports TV presentations, red-carpet events and location filming. Unlike studio filming, you may need to get a large number of ballasts on site quickly and safely, with the minimum set-up time. Typically there will be a host of ballasts scattered on the ground – with the usual tangle of cables and risk of being kicked or damaged by carts.

The Rolling Rack Series has been designed to keep your ballasts protected, making sure the equipment is available when you need it and takes up the least space. We’ve also reduced the risk from trailing wires – the single mains connection point provides a single supply to run multiple ballasts.
“The freestanding unit makes for quick set up, while if you ever need to swap a ballast they’re simple to maintain thanks to the modular design,” says Phil, fresh from finishing the design: “Our self-contained location ballasts are great for the film set where they are often thinly spread over a large area. For red-carpet and live broadcast, where a lot of kit is used in a compact space, then rack-mounting can be a better solution – getting our ballasts in a neat enclosure alongside your rack-mounted dimmers.”
