How we test: Behind the scenes of high speed photography
Earlier this year Power Gems popped over to freezing Toronto to witness our range of high speed ballasts undergo a series of lighting tests. Canada’s largest rental house, William F White wanted to confirm our claim of flicker-free operation at various frame rates for high speed photography. We’re delighted to report that our ballasts passed with flying colours!
Over three days William F White, in conjunction with Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT), conducted technical, live action and fx shots to confirm the performance of equipment by various manufacturers.
Our high frequency ballasts were tested with a wide range of popular digital cameras and industry standard HMI lights from the CMC 18kW/12kW and ARRI M range series.
The results demonstrate the need to use Power Gems high speed ballasts when shooting with the majority of the latest digital high speed cameras currently used within our industry.
