Launch of Power Gems 3kW/2kW Xenon ballast for followspots
Visitors to Cine Gear got the first look at Power Gem’s XE300P, a 3kW/2kW Xenon ballast for energy-efficient use with DC lamps.
The XE300P is a thoroughly modern Xenon ballast designed for a segment of the entertainment lighting market which has seen little development in recent years.
A key feature of the XE300P Xenon ballast is the ability to run a Super Trouper followspot from a regular 120V outlet. This is a real benefit in touring applications, where your ideal followspot position may not be furnished with a 208V feed. Without doubt, lighting professionals everywhere will appreciate this unique feature – all existing ballasts for this ballast need 208V. What’s more, the Power Gems XE300P can be used with both Super Trouper and Gladiator lighting fixtures.
Accommodating a ballast into a stage production isn’t always easy – they take up valuable space and create noise.
The XE300P is much quieter than any unit currently on the market, giving lighting designers more options for use in previously restricted locations.
At 15.5Kg, the XE300P is also a lightweight, another consideration for use in lighting rigs. The latest addition to the Power Gems range of high speed ballasts compares favourably with other 3kW ballasts.
