CineSpot in Egypt takes Power Gems

For the first time, Power Gems is shipping to CineSpot in Cairo. Karim Medhat and Amr Shehata, co-founders of CineSpot, a company that has been going for almost as long as Power Gems, have added several 1200W EB125Ps and 4000W EB425Ps, the lower wattage high speed ballasts, to their inventory.

The EB425P can operate on any supply voltage worldwide, and it can power up to 4 different lamp powers (4kW, 2.5kW, 1.8kW, 1.2kW). In addition, this high specification power factor corrected 4kW ballast is known for being super lightweight and quiet.

The EB125P only needs a single connector to operate up to three different wattages, 575W, 800W or 1200W.

Established in 1997, CineSpot were the first to supply the Egyptian market with lighting, broadcast, and audio systems. Since then, CineSpot has become one of the biggest distributors and authorised maintenance centres for many international brands and manufacturers while providing excellent after-sale service.

The company has premises on Emad Din street in the heart of Cairo’s theatreland; it’s much like the West End of London or Broadway in New York. In the 1920s, it was a hub for nightclubs and casinos; today, theatres and cinemas line the street.

The film industry in Egypt went through a Golden Age, a boom during the Second World War when it was hard to get hold of European or American films. More than 50 feature films were being produced each year in its heyday; in the 1950s, Egypt’s cinema industry was the world’s third-largest.

Today most Middle Eastern and North African films are made in Cairo, which is known as the Hollywood of the MENA region. In 2019 the number of Egyptian feature-length films being created was 33, according to the Egyptian Centre for Economic Studies

With the Egyptian film industry making a recovery from the COVID shutdown, the compact EB425P and ultra-flexible EB125P are destined for great things. We wish them Bon Voyage.
