Ann retires after 16 years with Power Gems

After 16 years with Power Gems, Ann Hill has assembled her final ballast at Manchester HQ. Back in 1998, Google had just been launched; Apple was unveiling the first iMac and Ann was learning all about electronic ballasts.

AnnAnn gave up a career in teaching to join us, but those skills never went to waste as she ably helped new employees get to grips with making the product. She was a vivacious character, full of good ideas, and will be missed around the factory. We look forward to seeing her again at this year’s Christmas party (where Ann has been known to indulge in a huge Christmas cigar…).

We are delighted that Ann remained with us for so long – that’s just how we like it, and we’re pleased to note that a number of other Power Gems people are vying for Ann’s service record (actually a few have already passed it!). Overall we’re looking for ‘age balance’ in the workforce with all the benefits that brings, and we aim to encourage younger staff with training and development opportunities where we can.

Ann, aged 69, has plans to spend more time with her family.  We wish her all the best.
