Power Gems appoints new dealer in Turkey – Ozgur Light
Power Gems has expanded its dealer network worldwide with a new authorised dealer in Turkey.
The well-regarded Ozgur Basaran of Ozgur Light will offer sales, service and parts functions to customers for the entire range of high speed ballasts and power supplies for TV and film.
As a new partner, Ozgur will be operating from his premises in the west of Istanbul.
Power Gems has been active in Turkey for 20 years but weren’t actively looking for a new Turkish distributor until we saw a good fit with Ozgur Light.

By combining Ozgur’s in-depth knowledge of the local market and the unique technical features of Power Gems ballasts, we are confident we can meet the needs of customers anywhere in Turkey,” says Patrick McGuane, Owner and Head of Sales at Power Gems.
Ozgur first met Patrick in 2010 when Power Gems supplied the lighting company he worked for. Nine years later and here they are at IBC, where Patrick (right) showcased the latest innovation, LED power supplies and systems.
Before setting up on his own, Ozgur worked for Orion Lighting & Camera, Turkey’s biggest rental company, and Istanbul Camera & Lighting Company. During a stint as a freelance gaffer, he decided to become a dealer because ‘gaffers know the best lighting equipment’.
Says Ozgur: “I wanted to be a Power Gems authorised dealer, because Patrick always finds the best solution and provides the best after-sales service. They are the best ballasts in Turkey; the product range works with any light fixture and wattage.”
Established in 2018, Ozgur Light is based in Istanbul, a city that hosts Turkey’s largest film event. The Istanbul Film Festival, organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), brought cinema lovers and film professionals for the 38th time this April.
Turkey as a whole has witnessed a surge in foreign film productions, a 68 per cent rise since last year. According to the Turkish new site Ahval, foreign filmmakers are flocking to Turkey in 2019
Patrick says: “Many of the filmmakers expect to work with the European brands – and will ask for Power Gems. With Ozgur Light covering the same sectors, we can double our service level.”
