Power Gems employs students throughout summer

Two young people are making sure the summer holidays are as productive as the rest of the year for Power Gems. Every August we need temporary staff to come in and cover for the holidays, this year we welcome Russell Lea and Joe Axon to Manchester HQ.

Russell (aged 18) is back for his third Summer, returning to find several additions to the Power Gems range of high speed ballasts including the EB57P and EB180PD. When the A-level results come out on Thursday 17 August, Russell hopes to go off to the University of Leeds to study economics.

This Summer also finds Joe (aged 17) working on the assembly line before returning to college for his final year of studies. Somewhat keeping it the family, Joe is the son of Michaela Axon, who looks after our accounts and controls our finances.

Joe is studying Sport, English Literature and Film Studies at A-level. Power Gems ballasts are widely used in lighting for TV and film production, so we like to feel we’ve helped him focus a little less on the theoretical side of film making.

We want to say thank you to Russell and Joe for pitching in over the school holidays. As much as we enjoy taking time off, those high speed ballasts still need to be built and shipped. We don’t like to keep our customers waiting.
