Battery-powered ballast from Power Gems. EB180PD runs on AC too
At last, Power Gems has launched a battery-powered HMI ballast. Even better news, the EB180PD can run from regular AC mains power too.
Over the years we’ve had regular requests for ballasts which will run from batteries. But you will no doubt be aware that we didn’t get round to making a product. Until now.
What changed our minds? Firstly battery technology has improved, and battery chemistries such as Lithium Ion now pack the sort of serious punch required for high-powered lighting. Secondly, we’ve figured out how to make a truly versatile product, not limited to battery-only operation.
The EB180PD could be the most useful bit of kit you have on the van: typically it can drive 6 different lamp types using universal AC mains 95-265V, and also battery power from 48 to 60V.
The EB180PD is more than a standard high speed ballast; it’s part of your rental inventory that can be earning you money every day of the week!
From battery power you can operate fixtures in the range 200W-575W (and in some circumstances up to 800W, talk to us about that). And if you plug into the AC mains you can run all those lights, and continue on up to 1800W, giving you phenomenal flexibility.
The new EB180PD is based on the tried-and-tested Power Gems technology, leveraged to extend to low voltage DC operation.
Features include:
- Multiple wattage outputs (typically 6 wattages on one ballast)
- 1000Hz or 300Hz for high speed shooting
- 48-60V DC or 95-265V AC input
- Compact and lightweight
- Thermally-controlled fans. (Fanless on 200W)
With this product you can run all your favourite low power fixtures even in remote locations where there’s no grid power.
