Power Gems give students a holiday job

Power Gems occasionally employs students for holiday periods, to help assemble our range of high speed electronic ballasts for TV and film, event lighting, solar simulation and high speed photography.

This Summer, we’re delighted to have two young people, Aaron Cordeiro and Russell Lea, spend time in Manchester.

Aaron and Russell (pictured) are helping to keep production flowing while full-time members of the Power Gems team are on holiday. The expected Summer-lull just hasn’t happened, and we’re currently fulfilling several orders for our newest ballasts, for shipment to the States.

While we always make sure that new joiners to Power Gems have an induction, Aaron already had an inkling of what goes into the making of a ballast. He is the son of one of our assemblers, Irvin. Aaron will be in final year of A-levels when he returns to college after summer.

Meanwhile, Russell is looking forward to festival-going when he finishes his stint with Power Gems, taking in BoomTown and the Leeds Festival. He’s clearly thought about how to weave work and pleasure together, as there’s bound to be a fair few Power Gems ballasts used in the lighting rigs.

We hope being at Power Gems will help Aaron and Russell make the most of their Summer. So, that we can make the most of ours.
